Grass can be difficult to take care of during the summertime. In the hot months in Michigan, plants in your yard can become dried out. Even with regular watering, some problems with brown grass continue.

1. Heat
The heat can be a major factor that is hurting your grass during the summertime. Heat can cause water to evaporate before it has a chance to be absorbed by the grass. The best way to fix this problem is to water your grass extra and more often during the summer to give it what it desperately needs.
2. Weeds
Weeds can be difficult to control, especially without the right materials. These types of pesky plants can steal water and nutrients, causing your grass to die where the weeds are sprouting. Apply herbicide spray to the areas that the weeds are congregating in, and you should have the affected areas under control is almost no time.
3. Pet Waste
Our pet waste oftentimes goes overlooked as a cause for grass dying. Animal urine contains acid that is harmful to healthy grass. If you know your animal has a favorite spot to use the bathroom, wash the affected area with water to dilute the acid from the urine.
4. Your Sprinklers Aren’t Adjusted
Sprinklers can sometimes miss spots to water in the grass whenever we place them for automatic watering. Look for the areas that sprinklers may be missing when it comes time to water your lawn. You may have to rotate your sprinklers regularly to reach all areas of the lawn.
